Making a prediction
I think it can be hard to make a prediction. I was kind of right but I missed out on a lot of things.

Balancing on the beam
We are learning how to balance on a beam in Gymnastics. We have to carefully climb on the beam and stand up. We have to put our aeroplanes arms out to help us balance. We then have to walk all the way to the other side. Sometimes we have to turn and go back too. It can be scary sometimes because the beam wobbles when we walk on it. We are all getting better at balancing on the beam!
Using other punctuation
I am learning when to use other punctuation
e.g. comma, exclamation mark, question mark, apostrophe
Guess what I did on the weekend? I went to Sylvia Park. We bought my Mum's shoes and my shoes. I like my shoes. I was happy!
I know how to use a question mark, apostrophe and exclamation mark in my writing. I will practise using other punctuation too!

Non fiction books
I am learning to describe the features of a non-fiction text.
The book ‘The Biggest Land Animal” is a non-fiction text. I know it is non-fiction because:

It was a little bit hard to talk about non fiction books because I don't know how to describe them very well. I get some of my words mixed up with Korean words.
Adding details
I am learning to add some detail to my writing.
The Lonely Big Blue Whale
One
afternoon in the deep blue sea lived a lonely big blue whale. She had just one
naughty friend. So she was searching for some good friends. The next week she
had to tell some fish to be her friends.
I am good at writing more details in my story. I can make them more interesting by telling Mrs Mason more. This story is short but I can add more in other stories.

St John Visit
Mac from St John came to talk to the children at Elm Park School about safety and first Aid. He brought his mini ambulance Amby along with him. Mac taught Room 11 about who to call when there is an emergency. We looked at different pictures and had to decide if we needed to call for the police, the firemen or an ambulance. We had actions that we had to do to show Mac that we knew who to call!

Shape Monster
I am learning to name and describe plane shapes.
We are learning about Geometry in Room 11. We are learning to name plane shapes and to say how many sides and corners the shape has. We created shape monsters and wrote a description about them.
I liked colouring in my shape monster. It was hard to draw the eye balls. I liked writing the story about how many sides and corners the shape had.

Adding to make ten

I am learning to split numbers to make ten to help me add.
It is sometimes hard when we have to split the numbers. I forget sometimes and then I remember when Mrs Mason helps me.
Youthtown
Room 11 has been going to Youthtown this term. We have been learning how to throw a ball at a target. We learned that you need to have your one arm in an L shape ready to throw the ball. The other arm needs to be pointing at the target. Then we have to do a power throw and try to hit the target. Sometimes we hit the cones and sometimes the ball goes in a different direction.

The Tale of the Turnip
The Ladybird reading group are learning how to read to an audience with fluency using phrasing and expression.
I like reading in front of the class. I helped people remember when it was their turn to read. I need to remember to use my power voice so everyone can hear me.

Describing Words
I am learning to use describing words in my writing.
I worked with Athena. We put all our words together. I chose the heart and the colours. They are pretty. I think it was easy to think about Roly-Poly Bird.

Writing Term One
The butterfly laid an egg on a leaf. And a caterpillar gets out of the egg and straight to eating the caterpillar and the caterpillar turns into a chrysalis and the butterfly came out.
I am learning to underline my try words and sound out words in my writing.

Self-Portrait
I have been learning how to draw my self-portrait. First Mrs Scott came to show us how to sketch our face. We sketched our face shape first. Then we drew our guidelines to help us remember where our eyes, nose, mouth and ears went. We practised using a whispering pencil and a shouting pencil. Our first sketch looked a bit funny so we tried again. This time we used a photo of us to help us. We had to start all over again! Miss Radue then helped us rub out all the whispering pencil guidelines and photocopied our sketches so they were bigger. We had to go around our sketch with vivid and then we used pastel to colour in our self-portraits. It was hard work but we had a lot of fun!
